The beach
This photograph captures a unique, slightly rugged scene from the Maldives in 2021. A weathered, derelict vessel or structure, heavily rusted, sits grounded in the incredibly shallow, crystal-clear turquoise waters. It is tethered by chains, juxtaposing the elements of decay and human history against the pristine natural beauty of the island. On the shore, a sparse, wind-swept tree leans over the water, complementing the calm horizon and the pale, rocky beach in the foreground.
